Jimmy LeMert
Jimmy LeMert, owner of Patrick’s Fly Shop, has more than 30 years experience fly fishing and is one of less than 74 FFF certified Master Fly Casting Instructors in the world. As a young boy in Seattle he became fascinated with fly fishing and started hanging out at a local fly fishing shop. He tied his first fly in 1976 and built his first fly rod in 1990. He has won the Champion Distance award at the Northwest Fly Casting Exposition twice and has been Champion Angler four times in the Don Hawley Invitational Tarpon Tournament. He has led fly fishing groups throughout the world from Baja to Belize, and currently fly fishes year round in Puget Sound.
Jimmy teaches fly casting clinics and offers rod building advice at Patrick's Fly Shop on Saturday's and Sunday's.
John Farrar
A river-tested veteran, John Farrar has served as a licenced guide on the rivers of Washington State for the past twenty years. Though he has angled from Alaska to Argentina, on waters salt and fresh, he's always drawn home to the Pacific Northwest where he flyfishes for sea-run steelhead and resident trout. "I never tire of wading rivers," says John. "Being there is reward enough." Coming from the Black Hills of South Dakota to study at the University of Washington, John soon discovered the Northwest's great rivers and its fishery. He worked part-time in flyshops to support his need to fish and be near water. It wasn't long before patrons at the tackle counter asked John to be their guide. He reads water and finds fish the better to share both with his clients. As a casting instructor with a double-handed rod, he helps you cast your spey fly across the Skagit's flow. From tying a fly that fishes well to faultlessly rowing through a challenging rapids John qualifies as a professional flyfishing guide. "I'll get you there," he says, "see that you enjoy yourself, and promise your return."
Bob Young
Born and raised in Tacoma, Bob did some time in the U.S. Navy, attended college, and after a 25 year stint with a California utility company he returned to the Northwest. Bob brings about 30 years of flyfishing experience to our staff. He took up fishing the beaches of Puget Sound about 11 years ago. Under the tutelage of Les Johnson, he immersed himself (literally, on occasion) in the details of casting to salmon and cutthroat trout in local salt waters. In addition to shop duties, Bob provides guide service for us.
