John Farrar

A river-tested veteran, John has served as a licensed guide on the Washington state rivers since 1981.  Though he has angled from Alaska to Argentina, on waters salt and fresh, he's always drawn home to the Pacific Northwest where he fishes fly for sea-run steelhead and resident trout.

He reads water and finds fish the better to share both with his clients.  As a casting instructor equally proficient with the single or double-handed rod, he helps you place your hopper tight to the Yakima's bank, or fling your spey fly far and fine across the Skagit's flow.  From tying a fly that fishes well to faultlessly oaring through a challenging rapids John qualifies as a professional fly fishing guide.  "Ill get you there," he says, "see that you enjoy yourself, and promise your return."

Leland Miyawaki

Leland fishes and guides on our Puget Sound beaches for salmon and sea run cutthroat with his "Miyawaki Beach Popper," almost exclusively. His knowledge and skill in the salt are close to legendary, or so he says. He is a licensed guide and can be reached at (206) 264-0609. His rates are $180 for one person and $300 for two. Leland will provide the poppers and beach lunch. You will need to bring a 6, 7 or 8wt rod with floating line, 12' leader tapered to 1x, waders, stripping basket (optional), rain gear (if needed) and some sort of medication to slow your heart after the first big boil on your popper.

Bob Young

Born and raised in Tacoma, Bob did some time in the U.S. Navy, attended co;;ege, and after a 25 year stint with a California utility company he returned to the Northwest. Bob brings about 30 years of flyfishing experience to our staff. He took up fishing the beaches of Puget Sound about 11 years ago. Under the tutelage of Les Johnson, he immersed himself (literally, on occasion) in the details of casting to salmon and cutthroat trout in local salt waters. In addition to shop duties, Bob provides guide service for us.
